"Let's begin with an incident..."
When a seemingly routine job goes terribly wrong, a small-time thug finds himself on a desperate run across Ireland, trying to stay one step ahead of the police, his boss, and quite possibly the IRA. Fly on the Wall Theatre presented The Good Thief by acclaimed Irish Playwright, Conor McPherson at Dora Keogh's Irish Pub in October, 2019 Directed by Rod Ceballos, The Good Thief featured David Mackett, reprising a role he first performed at the 2006 Toronto Fringe. The show ran for 6 performances from October 19 to 29, 2019. The Good Thief is Conor McPherson's second play, for which he received the Stewart Parker Award for Playwriting in 1994. He won the George Devine Award in 1997 with his play St Nicholas, and went on to win an Olivier Award for Best New Play in 1999 with his follow-up, The Weir. In 2006 he received a Tony Award nomination for Shining City and an Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play for The Seafarer. He was named by The New York Times as the 'finest playwright of his generation'. McPherson's latest play, The Girl from the North Country, with music from Bob Dylan, had its world premiere at the Old Vic theatre in July 2017 and transferred to the West End in January 2018. It's Canadian Premiere runs Sept 28 - Nov 24, 2019 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. |
