When a seemingly routine job goes terribly wrong, a small-time thug finds himself on a desperate run across Ireland, trying to stay one step ahead of the police, his boss, and quite possibly the IRA.
Directed by Rod Ceballos, The Good Thief features David Mackett, reprising a role he first performed at the 2006 Toronto Fringe. The Good Thief is Conor McPherson's second play, for which he received the Stewart Parker Award for Playwriting in 1994. He won the George Devine Award in 1997 with his play St Nicholas, and went on to win an Olivier Award for Best New Play in 1999 with his follow-up, The Weir. In 2006 he received a Tony Award nomination for Shining City and an Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play for The Seafarer. He was named by The New York Times as the 'finest playwright of his generation'. McPherson's latest play, The Girl from the North Country, with music from Bob Dylan, had its world premiere at the Old Vic theatre in July 2017. It's Canadian Premiere ran at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in the Fall, 2019. Join us for a pint and a play as Fly on the Wall Theatre presents The Good Thief at Dora Keogh's Irish Pub on the Danforth. |
